WINNER! Graduate or Degree Apprentice of the Year

Robyn Clarke v2.1Robyn Clarke
Toyota Manufacturing (UK) Ltd

Robyn Clarke, an Undergraduate Quality Assurance Engineer at Toyota Manufacturing (UK) Ltd, was recognised as being amongst the brightest and best young engineers in the UK, at the sixth annual Semta Skills Awards. The engineer from Cheshire, received the award for Graduate or Degree Apprentice of the Year, sponsored by BAE Systems plc.

Robyn was recognised not only for her excellence as an engineer but also the fact that she has often been the first to engage with skills development programmes at Toyota Manufacturing (UK) Ltd. This has helped to pave the way for other young engineers, especially female engineers, to follow in her footsteps.

Robyn is also passionate about being a STEM ambassador and inspiring young people in schools to consider engineering as a career. This is because she felt that she had poor careers advice at school herself.

"Balancing my job roles with my academic studies has been challenging, so winning this award makes me really proud of my achievements and reinforces that all my hard work has been worthwhile," said Robyn. "This award will be a great talking point when I'm sharing my journey with young people looking towards a STEM career."

The Graduate or Degree Apprentice of the Year runners up were: Ben Pullen (Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group) and Victoria Bayliss (MBDA UK Ltd).
